Frequently Asked Questions

Quite simply, students that have experienced the IB programme are destined for a global future. They develop strong academic, social and emotional characteristics. They are also likely to perform well academically – often better than students on other curricula.

The IB diploma opens doors not only to the highest-ranking universities around the world but also ensures students are culturally aware, develop at least one additional language and are able to effectively engage with people in an increasingly globalized, rapidly changing world.

We welcome students from a range of different cultures and countries - from Switzerland, the Rheintal and all over the world! Currently, our students are passport holders from over 31 countries. There are at least 29 languages spoken by our community, which makes for a dynamic, multilingual school.

No. We are a multilingual school that celebrates the diversity of languages in our community. We teach in English for all subjects except languages. German is also taught from kindergarten to grade 12, with French also being introduced at grade 5. For students who are not fluent in English, we offer transition support through our English as an Additional Language (EAL) team.

Our teachers and wider staff are carefully selected from the very best across the world. With hundreds of applications to work at ISR every year, we recruit, develop and retain a diverse, experienced international faculty.

As a learning organization, our staff also learn. Our staff all strive for improvement and engage in professional learning and development as part of the annual review process. Many of the staff are also trained to accredit and inspect other schools and sit on national/ international bodies for education.

The quality of an ISR education is paramount. We are externally evaluated by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) as well as the Council of International Schools (CIS). These require us to meet rigorous standards for curriculum, teaching and learning, safeguarding, school improvement and school leadership/ management alongside ensuring the sustainability of the organisation and, of course, academic standards.
