15th IB Diploma Graduation Class at ISR

On June 1, the International School Rheintal (ISR) celebrated the 15th Graduating class with the IB diploma in the great hall of the SAL in Liechtenstein.

The ISR graduates proudly received their high school diplomas in front of the busy great hall at the SAL in Schaan at the beginning of June. Fifteen years ago, in 2008, ISR in Buchs celebrated for the first time the successful graduation of a 12 grade and the IB Diploma Programme.

"Since then, we have already had the pleasure of presenting over 100 students with their diploma" mentions Heiner Graf, Chair of the Board at ISR. "Our graduating class this year can be proud that they not only mastered the academic challenges of the IB Diploma, but also managed to do so despite the pandemic, which demanded a lot of self-discipline in online classes and at the same time flexibility from our students and teachers alike."

In addition to speeches of well wishes and advice for the future from Ryan Michl a 2011 ISR graduate, the graduates were celebrated with musical performances from younger fellow students. Another highlight of the ceremony was certainly the presentation of ISR awards for their exemplary commitment. Maximilian Metzler was recognized for his outstanding commitment to the ISR school community; Basil Ritter received the award for exemplary exemplification and implementation of ISR's core values: "International-Mindedness, Academic and Personal Excellence, Responsible Engagement."

But it wasn't just the graduating class that was celebrated. Traditionally, the 6th and 10th graders are also congratulated for completing the Primary and Middle Years Programme and were presented with certificates.

“Graduation marks an important moment in a student’s life. It is an event for the entire ISR community, with everyone contributing to make this day extra special. This year sees us mark fifteen years of success, with us now being in the top ten IB schools in Switzerland and the top fifty across Europe. Our students have an education passport to the world and we look forward to following our students' successes as they enter the next phase of their lives, fully equipped to succeed", says Liz Free, director of ISR.

International School Rheintal is an IB World School for students ages 3-19 with English as the language of instruction. With the IB diploma, graduates receive an internationally recognized degree that enables them to study at universities in Switzerland and worldwide. ISR is considered one of the top ten IB schools in Switzerland and will move to a new eco-sustainable campus in the heart of Buchs in 2023.
